Learn More About Different Types of Volunteer Opportunities:

Unified Partner

A volunteer who trains and competes alongside individuals with intellectual disabilities on Special Olympics Montana sports teams. Participation is seasonal for each sport, generally one or more practice per week throughout the season, culminating with tournament play.

Coach

A volunteer who is responsible for providing athletes with comprehensive sport training and preparation for multilevel sport competition. Previous experience is not required, we provide continuous training. Empowering others, especially the athletes, is strongly encouraged. Commitment for an entire sport’s season is required, including culminating tournament play.

Team Volunteer

For those wanting more of a “coach’s assistant” role, a team volunteer can help at weekly practices throughout a sport’s season; or help with logistics, fundraising or team administration. Many hands make light work, and your gifts could be just what a team needs!

Area Management Team Volunteer

AMT members provide oversight and decision making for the team processes, marketing, and finances in a local area. They meet regularly and pitch in when needed for activities and events. It’s a great way to experience the joy & inspiration of Special Olympics utilizing your personal leadership & organizational skills!

Day of Volunteer

For those that can offer various one-day time slots throughout the year for local, regional and fundraising events and sports tournaments. Registration is only required that day and you are kept on a “Day of Volunteer” contact list by area staff and volunteers.
