State Summer Games

Spring 2022

Special Olympics Montana (SOMT) is proud to announce that the 2022 State Summer Games will once again be going statewide!  With the current Covid-19 protocols released from Special Olympics International not allowing for overnight travel, this year’s statewide competition will allow athletes to compete from their home communities in all seven State Summer Games sports.

Those sports will include the reintroduction of the indoor sports of Gymnastics, Swimming, and the Motor Activity Training Program, as well as the outdoor sports of Athletics, Bocce Skills, Cycling, Golf, and Soccer Skills offered in 2021. This “compete from practice” competition will allow athletes to compete in two sports, with a total of three events in those chosen sports.  Unified events will be offered in Athletics, Bocce Skills, Cycling, Golf, Swimming, and Soccer Skills.

Athletes and unified partners will be divisioned against others from across the state of Montana, creating a true statewide competition.  For those uncomfortable, or unable to return to team practices, a “compete from home” option will be available.  All athletes and unified partners will be competing for the traditional awards of medals and ribbons.

SOMT is proud of the coaches, volunteers, and family members that have kept the athletes and unified partners engaged and active!  We look forward to working with everyone so we can, again
