Inclusion In Action!

Ben Swift and Ethan Martin may be teammates on the TriCounty Tornados, but they are also basketball managers for Helena’s crosstown rivals. Swift is the basketball manager for Helena High and Martin is the manager for Capital High.

Despite the sports rivalry, adults, students, and supporters of the two high schools teamed up to honor their basketball managers at the halftime show. The announcer shared their bios and mentioned their involvement in Special Olympics Montana. The energy in the gymnasium was high-level as students and spectators rooted for them. In turn, Ben and Ethan shared their excitement and enthusiasm by welcoming the student sections and getting the entire crowd amped up!

Helena High School, Assistant Principal, Stephanie Thennis, was instrumental in setting up this special evening. In addition to Ethan and Ben being honored for their dedication to their respective basketball teams, all the raffle money from that evening (including that of the ticket winner!) was donated to Special Olympics Montana-TricCounty Area which totaled more than $1,300 dollars.
