Smiles, fist bumps, and outstretched arms signaled the joy and satisfaction felt by athletes competing for the State Summer Games in their respective areas.
In late April and May, Special Olympics athletes competed in the 2022 State Summer Games through the compete from practice model established in 2020. Additionally, athletes had the opportunity to show off their skills in person at area/regional competitions held across the state in Billings, Bozeman, Butte, Glasgow, Great Falls, Kalispell, and Missoula. The area competitions brought together nearly 1,000 athletes, coaches and volunteers.
Statewide competition included track and field, cycling, bocce, golf and soccer along with the return of gymnastics, swimming and the developmental training program (MATP).
