Unified Track Comes to Montana

Unified Track Comes to Montana

Montana High School Association (MHSA), Montana’s high schools and Special Olympics Montana have partnered together to bring Unified Track to Montana. This partnership brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities to practice and compete at local level track meets. Unified Track is a MHSA sanctioned event.

The Unified Track members consist of a proportional number of high school students with and without an intellectual disability. Unified Pairs are part of the school’s track team and must meet the requirements for participation established by MHSA and their high school. Unified Pairs practice with their school’s track team and wear the school’s track uniform. Unified Track participants will follow the high school’s current Covid-19 protocols to protect the health and safety of track participants.

Unified Track is taking place at local high schools across the state in classes AA, A, B and C. Any Special Olympics athletes interested in joining high school track are encouraged to reach out to their local track coach or Athletic Director. Any schools interested in joining Unified Track should contact Jeannette Gray Unified Champion Schools Senior Director jgray@somt.org.
