09 Jan Todd Hoar Honored as Golisano Health Leader
The Golisano Health Leadership Award is the highest honor for health partners and individuals that Special Olympics awards. The award was created to recognize local health champions and their extraordinary efforts toward fulfilling the goals, values, and mission of Special Olympics’ global health program, made possible by the Golisano Foundation.
Todd Hoar has been a change agent for inclusive health and a voice for people with intellectual disabilities for over 20 years. His passion and leadership have inspired strategic planners to make decisions that have opened- up community resources and accessibility to people with disabilities throughout the entire Butte-Silver Bow County. Not only are athletes receiving follow-up care, they are learning how to live as independent and healthy citizens.
For over 15 years, Todd Hoar has been the Americans with Disabilities Accessibility (ADA) Coordinator for Butte-Silver Bow County and Director of Silver Bow Developmental Disabilities Council. As ADA coordinator, he has had the opportunity to work with the Butte-Silver Bow ADA Advisory Committee, the community and government officials.
Mr. Hoar started the ‘Dish-ability’ food truck as a fundraiser for the community. He refurbished a food truck that is outfitted and ready for use. Organizations can rent the truck with access to the kitchen to sell food as fundraisers. Athletes and other persons with disabilities help staff the truck. The revenue generated supports the health and wellness programming in place. Congratulations to Todd Hoar!
