Montana Law Enforcement Torch Run Announces New Assistant Director

On May 10, 2018 the Executive Committee of the Montana Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) for Special Olympics Montana selected retired Undersheriff Kevin Evans with the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Office as the eastern Assistant Director.

Kevin comes with the leadership skills, experience and commitment to continue building on the strengths of the Torch Run.  He has been extensively involved with the Torch Run for over 10 years, serving as Regional Coordinator, Special Events Coordinator, event participant, Area Management Team LETR Liaison, Local Games LETR Liaison, and Global Messenger Mentor to Billings’ athlete Will Moody.  Given his commitment to excellence, he was inducted into the Montana Torch Run Hall of Fame in 2018.

Kevin states that ever since he handed out medals at a basketball game, he knew he had to become of part of the LETR/SOMT family.  As a law enforcement officer, you strive to make a difference in the community.  LETR has provided him with another avenue to give something back to the community.  He is very passionate about his involvement with LETR.  Seeing the happiness the athletes and their families get from the partnership between SOMT and LETR, he will strive to find other law enforcement officers around the state to join the LETR family.

The Montana Torch Run Executive Committee and Special Olympics Montana look forward to supporting Kevin in his new role as Torch Run Assistant Director.
