16 Mar Torch Run Announces New Director
On March 9, 2018 the Executive Committee of the Montana Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) for Special Olympics Montana selected Officer Tina Hoeger with the Billings Police Department to succeed Jason Johnson, Missoula County Sheriff’s Office retiree as Torch Run Director. During Jason’s time as Director, he led Montana’s law enforcement in becoming the successful program that it is today, raising nearly $700,000 annually. Currently Jason is a Development Director for Special Olympics Montana.
Tina comes with the leadership skills, experience and commitment to continue building on the strengths of the Torch Run. She has been extensively involved with the Torch Run for the past 13 years, serving as Assistant Torch Run Director, Leg Leader, Special Events Coordinator, event participant, Area Management Team LETR Liaison, Local Games LETR Liaison, State Games LETR Liaison and Global Messenger Mentor to Billings athlete Cheyne Kotar. Given her commitment to excellence, she was inducted into the Montana Torch Run Hall of Fame in 2013.
Tina states that when she became a police officer, her desire was to make a difference. “As we know, the reality of a career in law enforcement is not always a rewarding experience. Torch Run has been the balance and has provided the avenue to make that difference.”
The Montana Torch Run Executive Committee and Special Olympics Montana look forward to supporting Tina in her new role as Torch Run Director. If you should have any questions, please contact Terri Sappington, Associate VP of LETR at (800) 242-6876 or email@example.com.
