2018 Ronan Medfest

Over 2,500 athletes compete in Special Olympics competitions in Montana, but before they step on the field, they are required to have a comprehensive sports physical. MedFest was created to offer the physical screenings that all athletes need prior to participating in Special Olympics sports. The screenings assess blood pressure, temperature, pulse, height, weight, body mass index, vision, medical history, potential medication side effects and general physical health. MedFest is led by volunteer physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and medical students.

On February 23, 2018, a MedFest was held at Ronan High School where ten athletes completed physical exams and more than two dozen athletes participated in health stations, bocce and a meal. Tribal Health volunteers and local law enforcement joined in Ronan’s Medfest as well.
