25 Apr Law Enforcement Carry the Torch for Special Olympics Montana
Law enforcement officers across Montana will carry the Flame of Hope over 2,700 miles during the annual state-wide Torch Run. The Torch Run will begin April 26th in the northeast corner of Montana, and will culminate in Missoula for the State Summer Games Opening Ceremonies. The torch will make stops in numerous towns throughout the state including Scobey, Miles City, Kalispell, Billings, Dillon, Malta, Butte, Helena, Anaconda, Great Falls, Havre, Lewistown and many more locations.
On May 17th, officers from around the state will then join together to bring the Flame of Hope™ into the Washington-Grizzly Stadium. The arrival and lighting of the cauldron will officially begin the Games.
The Torch Run in Montana began in 1985. Each year, local Montana law enforcement raises several thousands of dollars for Special Olympics Montana athletes. In 2016, the Montana LETR raised over $608,000 through events such as Polar Plunges, Tip-a-Cop events, World’s Largest Truck Convoy and the NFL Raffle.
