26 Feb State Winter Games in Whitefish – Feb 28 – Mar 1
Special Olympics Montana (SOMT) and their premier sponsors Town Pump and the Whitefish Mountain Resort are pleased to announce the 2016 State Winter Games will held in Whitefish, MT February 28 through March 1. Thanks to the generous ongoing support of individuals and businesses throughout the Flathead Valley, Whitefish has been home to the State Winter Games for 21 consecutive years.
During the Games, 317 athletes, 32 Unified partners from 16 teams (24% increase over 2015) will gather at the Whitefish Mountain Resort to compete in four different sports over a two-day period. Competitions include Alpine Skiing, Cross Country Skiing, Snowshoeing, and Snowboarding. An additional 250 local residents will donate their time as volunteers to help organize the event.
On Sunday, February 28 at 4 pm, the public is invited to line Central Avenue from 3rd St. to Railway St. for the Parade of Athletes and the Opening Ceremony immediately following at Depot Park.
