Special Olympics Montana State Summer Games Return to Bozeman May 11-14, 2010

(March 20, 2010) Special Olympics Montana, a 40 year-old movement that enables children and adults with intellectual disabilities to train for life through sports,has announced the return of the State Summer Games to Bozeman for an exciting second year of a three-year commitment to the city.
1,000 athletes and 450 coaches from 75 teams will gather in Bozeman to compete in fourteen different sports over a three-day period. Competitions will include athletics (track & field), bowling, equestrian, bocce, gymnastics, cycling, golf, powerlifting, soccer, aquatics, triathlon, horseshoe pitching and kayaking. In addition, motor activities training for lower functioning individuals will also be offered. The games will kick-off with a ground breaking and energy packed opening ceremonies at 7pm on May 12th in MSU’s Brick Breeden Fieldhouse. Thousands of local youth have partnered with Special Olympics teams prior to the event and will join again with the athletes at the event to deliver a high-tech message of unity and respect. The games, including opening ceremonies, are 100% free to the public!
