A letter from the President and CEO of Special Olympics Montana

Dear Friends of Special Olympics:

It is with much sadness that I report that Special Olympics founder, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, passed away earlier today. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Shriver family at this difficult time.

There are few in today’s world that have had as profound an impact on the lives of people with intellectual disabilities, their families and our communities than Mrs. Shriver. One woman’s vision has, indeed, changed the world.

While we grieve her passing, the good news is that Mrs. Shriver’s vision lives on in 180 countries that serve more than 3 million athletes. As a torchbearer of Mrs. Shriver’s legacy and the future of the Special Olympics movement, you and I can best honor her work by remaining united in our efforts to serve the greater good with passion, compassion and a resolve to never give up.
