(Bozeman, Montana) This May 13-15, athletes will gather in Bozeman to compete in the 2009 Special Olympics Montana State Summer Games. With the theme of “Live a Little Louder,” community members are working together to ensure that Bozeman’s support for Special Olympics athletes is heard loud and clear — and kids can help.
Beginning May 1, kids who visit the Bozeman Public Library can pick up event schedules and Make-A-Poster sheets in the library’s Children’s Room. Everyone is invited to cheer the athletes on by placing hand-made posters in their windows and waving them at the opening ceremonies.
The Bozeman Public Library will also host a “Little Ones at the Library” storytime for ages 2-4 focused on the theme of cheering for Special Olympics athletes on Wednesday, May 13 at 10:15 a.m. and again at 11:15 a.m. After story time, children can make posters to hold up at the opening ceremonies that night.
All events at the Special Olympics Montana State Summer Games are free and the public is encouraged to attend. The Opening Ceremonies begin at 7pm on May 13 at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman. For more information or to learn about volunteering, visit somt.org.
