Update
Athletes complete
training, reflect on week of
camp
Saturday was the last
day of training for Team
USA
,
and athletes completed it with a bittersweet
attitude. Most are looking forward to returning
home tomorrow, but a lot are reluctant to leave
the new friends they have made.
Athletes count their
best memories of the week as making friends,
taking a vacation from home and practicing their
sport. One alpine skiier has a unique favorite
memory.
"The pizza!" Willie Dee
Foster says. "Pizza Hut used to be my favorite,
but now it's this." Athletes ate at Jack's
Slopeside Grill each day, which serves a variety
of lunch items.

The last of the teams
tried on their World Games uniforms, and each
team took a team photo. Most teams took this
opportunity to also take pictures with all their
new friends.
The last night wrapped
up with a slideshow recap of the week's events.
Athletes cheered and laughed as they saw
pictures of themselves and their teammates.
The night ended with a
final round of "
USA
,
USA
."
Athletes headed back to
their hotels, where some sports gave out awards,
and then everyone turned in early to prepare for
the long day on Sunday.

photos from floor hockey and uniform try-ons.

a world stage at World Games in February, he’ll
be up for the challenge.
Charles is currently a
freshman at
Oakland
Community College
in
Oakland
County
,
Michigan
. He
took on a full load of five classes this
semester, and is trying to decide among majoring
in singing, acting or art, his other
love.

Alpine Skier Enjoys the
Game of Life
For alpine skier
Brittany Kulic, 18, life is one big game. Her
favorite hobby is playing on her Xbox. She
especially likes Grand Theft Auto, but you won’t
find her driving a real car. Even on the game,
she says, “I’m a crazy driver.”
Back at home in
Redlands
,
California
,
Brittany
’s
teacher is very supportive of her. She plans to
buy a Nintendo Wii for her class to play on
Fridays, and
Brittany
is
hoping she can improve her performance for World
Games by skiing on a virtual hill through the
game system.
